Citizen Teachers Receive President's Service Award

Here at Citizen Schools, we believe that all citizens have a role to play in helping U.S. students get a quality education. Volunteer Citizen Teachers are critical to the work we do and we’ve engaged thousands of outstanding volunteers from across the country. Citizen Schools is proud to announce 225 Citizen Teachers recieved a President's Service Award for their commitment to teaching apprenticeships and partnering with Citizen Schools to transform education in middle schools across the country.

Volunteers received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, an award that honors volunteers for their service. The program recognizes the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourages a sustained commitment to civic participation.

In a speech about education earlier this year, President Obama said, “The success we seek is not going to be attained by government alone. It depends on the dedication of students and parents and the commitment of private citizens, organizations and companies. It depends on all of us.”

Congratulations to the honored volunteers and all of our Citizen Teachers working to transform education in middle schools across the nation.
