Students Take the Field at AT&T Park

On July 23rd, a group of new players took to the field at AT&T Park before the San Francisco Giant’s game against the San Diego Padres. In partnership with Bank of America and the Giants, 9 students from Citizen Schools were able to go on to the field and take positions on base before the game for the Kids Take the Field event. On top of that, students were able to meet the players while out on the field, an experience the students said that they would never forget.

Smiles were infectious on the field at AT&T Park on July 23rd as Citizen Schools' students were able to get on the field and meet players before the game against the San Diego Padres.

Seung Lee, Campus Director at Renaissance Academy at Fischer in San Jose, recalled his favorite story from the day: "When talking to Kevin, one of my students, he proudly showed a stash of pens that he had brought with him for when he going to meet Eduardo Nunez, a favorite player of his. He was so excited to meet Nunez that he didn't want to risk not getting an autograph if any of his pens failed, so he brought an entire handful!"

One of Citizen Schools’ missions is to expand the opportunities offered to our students. With the help of Bank of America and the San Francisco Giants, Citizen Schools was able to bring students and their families to the first professional baseball game that many of them had ever attended, which explains the ear-to-ear smiles that appear in all of the pictures from the day!
